Welcome#
If you are reading this, then I managed to get this site deployed. Go Me! For the 3 of you who knew about the wordpress site, I have decided to deprecate that and will be copying over the content here (hopefully before I go live with this, but who knows). Don’t get too attached, I have no idea how long I’ll go before I change a color scheme, font (yes, this is Comic Shanns) or even the entire direction of this blog/site thing.
Why Now?#
When I saw what Roundworld year it was, and since I already had this great logo made for me by a very talented artist friend (I’ll link to her website if she has one and tells me where to find it) I knew it was a sign that I had to actually get off my ass and launch this thing. So let me welcome you to the year of the Curious Squid. Yes, my logo is an octopus, not a squid, but in my defense I didn’t say it was a good sign.
What you can expect to find here#
I have no idea. Right now I am planning to do some work demonstrating network based defense tactics (Blue Team For Life), but that may change. Eventually I will post pcaps, logs made from pcaps (Zeek, Suricata, etc), and Ludus configurations so that you can reproduce the environment and try things out for yourself. I will try to only use tools that have free versions (ideally open source) but I can’t make any promises.
I am also planning on hiding fun things in the page headers, which is why I am using Hugo behind AWS Amplify (yes, that last one isn’t free, but that isn’t a tool you need to use to follow along with any posts, it’s the tool that helps me put the posts in your browser.)
I will do my best to put some kind of tag or metadata on each post so you don’t have to read stuff you don’t care about. At the moment, nothing here is sponsored but I can dream of a day when Brands pay me billions of dollars to just mention them without lying about how good they are. If that day comes (I’m not holding my breath and neither should you) I will ensure to clearly mark any sponsored content.
